Student Consultancy Network provides

How long does it take for a response after the application has
been submitted?
It usually takes about 2-3 weeks, but depending on the subjects
and degrees applied for, it could be longer or shorter. Page Up

Do the universities
have ranking?
Students should not put too much importance on rankings as a
university ranked low overall may have a high ranking in the
student's area of interest. SCN can advise you on this subject
properly because it effect on your visa approval. Page Up

What is the difference between tuition fees and cost of living
expenses between countries?
Note:
Tuition fees vary depending upon the duration of the courses and
the institutions where they locate. Cost of living also varies
depending on the city and the duration of stay. Life style is
another factor which may affect the cost of living.

what English test is required?
Both TOEFL and IELTS are acceptable. However, IELTS is preferred
in England, Australia and New Zealand and other countries. While
TOEFL is prefer in United States of America and Canada.

What are
the benefits in applying through SCN?
By applying direct, students will have to gather information,
contact, and follow up on the application and accommodation by
themselves. These processes often consume time and cost.
SCN will provide you with up to date information on the entire
process of your study abroad experience. SCN, on your behalf, will

Are students allowed to work while studying?
For England and Ireland, international students are allowed to
work, but no longer than 20 hours per week.
International students in the United States are allowed to work
only within the university campus and should not exceed 20 hours
per week.
In Canada, students that enrolled to short courses (less than 6
months) are not entitled to work. International students are
allowed to work only within the university campus, but working
hours should not exceed 10 hours per week. Page Up

What if I do not have the IELTS results or if the result does not
meet the university's requirements, can I still apply for a
Postgraduate program?
Universities will not unconditionally accept an applicant without
IELTS or TOEFL results. However a student may be accepted with the
condition that the student must summit the IELTS or TOEFL results
with the acceptable score or above before a given date. Students
may also
be accepted with condition that they be required to attend an
intensive or pre-sessional English class before attending academic
classes. The duration of the class will depend on the students'
level of English.

Do I have to take the IELTS / TOEFL test again after I have
completed the universities' English courses?
Sometimes but frequently the universities have their own English
test at the end of the course. Check with your counselor for more
details .

university International Student office for further advice either
on your study, accommodation, or personal problems.

year begin?
For England, it begins in September. However, there are some
programs that start in January, March, June, Nov etc For Australia
and New Zealand, the academic year begins in February. However,
there are some programs start in July.
For the United States, the year usually begins in September.
However, many universities have starting dates in January.
Please check with your SCN for exact dates.

When is
the best time to submit the application?
Since most universities/institutions have limited space in the
university/institutions and in some courses, it is important to
apply as early as possible. Therefore, students should plan ahead
for at least 4 months before the academic year begin. For the most
popular courses, you should consider applying as much as 6-7
months in advance.

Is health check-up required in applying for visa and before the
flight?
For England, T.B Test is required and for Ireland and United
States, health check-up is not required. Students should bring
along your medical certificate in case it is requested.
For Cyprus, medical check-up is required from students if the
course taken is longer than 3 months.

related fields?
Yes, but it would depend on each of the university/institute’s
terms and conditions or you may need commensurate work experience.

Comparing between countries will there be any difference in terms
of English accent?
English accent or pronunciation varies between cities and
countries. You may want to consider taking an English course in
the country where you will be studying even if you have achieved
the required IELTS or TOEFL score. This will also help your
minimize "culture shock".

Normally in the UK and Ireland, there is no specific deadline in
submitting your application. The earlier you send the
applications, the better chance you have in gaining acceptance.

The weather varies greatly from one part of each country to
another. Your counsellor can tell you about specific locations.
5. Will they offer airport pick-up?
Universities/Institutions offering airport pick-up service while
some suggest ways to find means of transportation from the point
of entry. SCN will help arrange this for you.
